One of the greatest stressors in my life as a parent—along with countless other believers, I’m sure—is trying to protect my family’s health without going broke, and without compromising my faith. If you’re anything like me, you know how intimidating and confusing the traditional healthcare system has become. Insurance premiums keep climbing, deductibles seem to skyrocket every year, and let’s be honest—sometimes we feel like we’re paying thousands of dollars just for catastrophic coverage, not real help.
Recently, after yet another frustrating call with our insurance company, my blood pressure hit a new high. Medication that used to be $5 with insurance now costs $50—and would actually be cheaper without insurance! (Say what? I share my cost-saving tip in the latest episode of CP/CW, btw).
Check out this video of a dad who received a $600 bill for his daughter’s ambulance services. He gave the medical provider his insurance information, and the bill more than doubled.
You can’t make this stuff up…
And let’s not even talk about the ethical dilemmas—paying premiums that fund procedures I fundamentally oppose as a believer. It’s enough to keep anyone up at night.
🙌 A Real Conversation. A Real Alternative.
So when I had the chance to speak with Dr. Ian Day, Chief Medical Officer of Medi-Share and a practicing physician for over 25 years in the latest episode of Christian Parent/Crazy World, I jumped at it.
In our conversation, I learned that Medi-Share isn’t just another health product; it’s a ministry and a community. It’s about believers coming together to share one another’s medical and spiritual burdens, rooted in biblical wellness—caring for body, mind, and spirit as the interconnected whole God designed.
🔑 Key Takeaways from My Conversation with Dr. Ian Day
💸 Healthcare Costs Are Soaring: Healthcare costs are projected to rise dramatically in the coming years (18% in 2026 with the ACA), leaving millions of families scrambling to find affordable solutions.
🔒Traditional Insurance Isn’t Enough:Traditional insurance often fails to deliver either true coverage or alignment with Christian values—it’s riddled with red tape, shrinking benefits, and supports procedures many Christians find unethical.
🤝Ministry, Not Just a Product: Medi-Share is a faith-based healthcare sharing ministry that operates on Acts 2 and 4 principles—sharing both financial and spiritual burdens, offering prayer, coaching, and true community whenever you call for support.
🌿 What Is Biblical Wellness? Biblical wellness means treating the whole person, not just the body or mind—but also the soul. Total healing demands all three in harmony, something that’s woefully absent in modern secular medicine.
🛡️Faith and Values Matter: Traditional healthcare covers many procedures that many Christians find objectionable (abortion, gender reassignment surgery, cross-sex hormones, etc.) Medi-Share doesn’t cover procedures that conflict with biblical principles (like abortion and gender-mutilating surgeries), but does support life-affirming practices (including adoption and maternity care).
🙏 There Is Hope: There’s hope for Christian families who feel defeated by the system—a real, Christ-centered alternative that’s been working for over 30 years.

💬 A Quote to Reflect on:
“There’s peace of mind knowing the people sharing your contributions are not using your money for things that conflict with your faith. In other words, there’s peace of mind participating in God-honoring healthcare.”

🙏 Our Holy Book Has the Answers…
The church was always meant to be the answer when the world’s systems fail us. I love to see Christians banding together in order to find solutions. Maybe it’s time we returned to our roots—bearing one another’s burdens, stewarding our resources wisely, and staying deeply rooted in faith as we care for our health.
Honestly, I’m not sure if Medi-Share is the right option for our family, but it just might be. And I’m really glad to know that it is out there.
