King David said, “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” (Psalm 119:11)
As Believers, we know that we are supposed to hide God’s Word in our hearts, but most of have a really heard time retaining Scripture. We know that a verse is somewhere in a certain book of the Bible… probably. And we know what it says… sort of—but we can’t quote it, or even find it without an aid.
What if there were some simple techniques that would help Scripture to stick in your memory and reside in your heart?
Well, there are.
In this special New Year’s episode of CHRISTIAN PARENT/CRAZY WORLD, I share my tried and true method for memorizing Scripture. (I memorized all of Psalm 91 with my kiddos one summer using this method.)
My secret… is the power of song.
And I am so excited to introduce you to Zac Fitzsimmons, an insanely talented singer/songwriter, who shares his music with the CP/CW audience in this episode. He is amazing!
Zac is devoted to creating powerful, anointed songs from word-for-word passages of Scripture. He sings Psalm 1 and Psalm 8 live in this episode, and I sing some harmony. Check out this clip of us singing a portion of Psalm 8 together:
I just LOVE this song! I can’t get it out of my head. I’ve already committed all of Psalm 8 to memory from this passage that Zac put to melody, and it was so easy. In this episode, I also share the proven method I use for committing Scripture to memory with my kids through song and sign language.
And I just want to say that with 84 episodes out there, it is hard to pick a favorite. But if I had to pick one, I think this would be it. I am so passionate about memorizing Scripture this way, and I am so excited to introduce Zac to you. He truly is a hidden gem.
So I’m issuing a challenge, Mamas & Papas, to learn more in 2024 than you ever have before.
