Have you ever cried out to God in prayer and felt like you were hitting a wall? Like there was a bottleneck in your prayer life—one you couldn’t quite explain, but you certainly could feel?
Oh, friend, I’ve been there. Many of us have.
We pray sincerely, passionately, faithfully… and yet, the heavens feel silent. That tension can leave us wondering, “Am I praying wrong? Or for the wrong things?”
I’ll be honest—the frustration is real. But recently, I revisited one of the most powerful books on prayer I’ve ever read: Let Us Pray by Watchman Nee. This book completely challenged and reshaped my understanding, flipping everything I thought I knew about prayer on its head. Prayer isn’t about persuading God to bless our plans (though goodness knows we’ve all tried)…
Instead, Nee shows us that true, transformative prayer is about aligning ourselves with God’s will, praying for what He already desires to do. It’s about partnering with Him—becoming co-laborers in ushering His will from heaven down to earth, as Jesus said in the Lord’s prayer, “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
That, right there, has revolutionized everything for me.
In this week’s episode of Christian Parent/Crazy World , I sat down with my fellow Life Audio podcaster, Jaime Hampton, cohost of the Praying Christian Women Podcast, and together we dove deep into Nee’s ideas—and how they radically changed both our prayer lives.
– Deep Prayer Is About Intimacy with God
True power in prayer comes from spending time with God, listening quietly, and discerning His heart—not just reciting our desires.
– Prayer Is a Partnership 🤝
God chooses to work through our prayers. When we cooperate, miracles can happen; when we don’t, some things may remain undone.
– We Have Authority in Prayer 🗝️
We are given authority to pray forth God’s plans and purposes—not to demand our way, but to bring His heavenly will to earth.
– God Responds in Mysterious Ways 🌊
Sometimes He removes obstacles; sometimes He gives us extra grace to rise above them. In both, He proves His faithfulness.
– Outrage Can Be Holy Fuel 🔥
Direct your anger at injustice and the enemy—not at God. Let it drive you into deeper, persistent prayer.
– Persistence Is Key ⏳
Don’t give up when you face opposition. Whether the answer comes as a miracle, or as daily strength, God will always meet you there.
“Prayer does not alter that which God has determined. It never changes anything. It merely achieves what he has already foreordained. Prayerlessness, though, does affect change…”
— Watchman Nee
Our kids are facing a world that often feels overwhelming, broken, and spiritually hostile. The way we pray shapes not only their lives, but the spiritual atmosphere around them. When we understand our authority and responsibility in prayer, we are equipped to do more than hope for change—we partner with God to help it happen.
Prayer is the most powerful key God has given us for unlocking who our children are called to become. Your prayers are vital. Don’t let discouragement or doubt rob your family of God’s best.
