🎉 Stepping Into 2026—How to Face the Giants in Your New Year 🎉
So… it’s the start of a brand new year, and if you’re like me, you can feel both the hope and the heaviness pressing in as the calendar turns. I don’t know about you, but as I look ahead to 2026, I’m staring down some brand new giants—and a few old ones I thought I’d already conquered!
Maybe for you, it’s financial uncertainty, a strained relationship, a big move, a scary diagnosis, or just the mountain of everyday parenting in a crazy world. Those giants are real, they’re loud, and they have a knack for stealing our peace right out from under us on New Year’s Eve (or shortly thereafter).
That’s why I’ve dedicated this special New Year’s episode of Christian Parent/Crazy World to the one question that keeps showing up on my heart (and probably yours too):
How do you conquer the giant—or giants—staring you down in the new year?
I’ve been praying over this episode because, trust me, I need these reminders just as much as anyone else. I need to remember what God has already promised in His Word for the dark and daunting seasons, the spots on the game board when it feels like life just sent us right back to start.
Whether you’re stepping into this season filled with excitement or trepidation (maybe both!), this episode is for you.

We can’t wish our giants away, but we can choose to respond God’s way. And choosing God’s way may get us out of the desert a lot faster (can I get an amen!).
Here are the seven biblical, practical ways to face your giants in 2026:
1. Keep a Childlike Faith: Think of David facing Goliath—David’s trust was simple, fresh, and powerful. He still had wonder and expected God to do the impossible. As adults, our faith can get worn down, but when we return to a childlike trust, God can—and will—step in.
2. Fear Not: Fear is a universal giant. The Bible commands us to “fear not” over and over because God knows how human and persistent our anxieties are. Ask God to reveal what’s behind your fears—and let Him replace every lie with His comforting truth.
3. Be Thankful: Thankfulness is your bridge to peace. When you reflect on all God has already done, your focus shifts from the size of your giant to the faithfulness of your God. Scripture says thanksgiving will guard your heart and mind with supernatural peace.
4. Don’t Complain: The Israelites grumbled when they faced their giants, and it kept them in the wilderness. Complaining amplifies our obstacles and crowds out faith. Instead, rehearse God’s goodness in your life and refuse to spiral into negativity.
5. Help Someone Else Slay Their Giant: Serving others is a powerful way to shrink your own problems and grow your faith. When you step into someone else’s battle and lend support, God meets you there—and often, your own giants begin to look a little less intimidating.
6. Persevere in Prayer: Don’t stop praying—even when it feels like nothing is changing. Pray scripture over your situation and watch what happens. Before prayer changes your circumstances, it will change you from the inside out. Print out scriptures, repeat them, and let God’s Word be louder than your giant.
7. Remember God is With You and For You: You are not alone as you face this year’s giants. God is both with you and for you—He goes before you, fights for you, and the victory ultimately rests in His hands, not yours. Lean into “Emmanuel”—God with us—as your anchor.

If you’re entering 2026 feeling outnumbered or overwhelmed, know that you are not alone and you are not defeated. Just as God was with Joshua, David, and generations of His people, so He is with you—right in the mess, the uncertainty, and the daily grind of parenting. The giants you face may be big, but our God is so much bigger. And He is both with you and for you.
You are equipped. You are chosen. And you are exactly the parent your child needs in this season.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Giants may roar, but God’s promises thunder louder. Happy New Year—and remember, God’s got you, and He is bigger than your giant.
