⚾️ “I Always Tell My Kids They Can Be Whoever They Want…”
A few weeks ago, I found myself near the bleachers at my son’s baseball game, swapping stories with a very dedicated dad. He looked over the field—kids chasing wild dreams, parents doing their best to cheer them on—and said,
” I always tell my kids that with enough work, they can be whoever they want to be.”
It’s the kind of thing we hear (and say) all the time. But as I sat there, something about that sentiment just didn’t sit right. It wasn’t his heart—he was a wonderful dad—but the message echoed a cultural myth more than biblical wisdom.
Is it truly loving (or realistic, or godly) to assure our children they can become anything? Or is there a deeper, better truth God invites us to speak over their lives?
That’s the question at the heart of this fully updated “best of” episode of Christian Parent/Crazy World—a conversation born in the stands, but vital for every home.
🎙 This Episode: Solo Reflections
In this newly refreshed message, it’s just you and me, friends. I share personal stories from our family’s own dream-chasing and disappointments, honest wrestling with what our faith teaches, and practical wisdom for sorting myth from biblical reality.

If you’ve ever wondered how to fuel your child’s dreams without losing sight of God’s plan, this episode is for you.

💬 Quote to Reflect On
“You can be whoever God created you to be, and whoever that is is amazing and awesome, and it’s gonna fulfill you more than anything else in life. God’s plan is the best plan.”

🌱 An Encouraging Word for Parents
You don’t have to carry the burden of fueling every dream or guaranteeing impossible futures for your kids. What you can do is point them—again and again—to the God who knows them, loves them, and has a purpose tailor-made for their good and His glory.
Let’s raise children who pursue possibilities, yes—but most of all, who seek the One who calls them by name.
🌟 This week’s prayer:
“Lord, help our kids (and us) to glorify You with all our gifts, for as long and in whatever ways You choose.”
✨ Keep Dreaming. Keep Trusting. Parent Courageously—in God’s Truth.
Reflect & Respond
How can you encourage your children to dream boldly, while also helping them discover and pursue God’s unique calling for their lives? What steps can you take to align your parenting with God’s larger story, even when it means letting go of your own or your child’s expectations?
Tune in for real-life wisdom, biblical encouragement, and practical steps to parent with hope, faith, and purpose in a world full of crazy (and not always truthful) messages.
